Design and Technology Overview
Our Design and Technology curriculum is designed to provide students with practical skills that engage creative and innovative thinking. Through the subjects of D&T, students are able to build a variety of positive skills that can be used throughout their future lives, including confidence, communication skills, food preparation and cooking skills, practical application of materials and problem solving. It provides learners with a wide variety of transferable skills and career paths including engineering, product designing, graphic designing, food scientist, chef, interior design, architecture and many more.
This subject allows students to express their creativity through a wide range of media in Design and Food using creativity whilst studying in a practical and academic environment.
The students are inspired to develop a wide range of skills and a passion to design and create through every day products, knowledge of food, how to prepare and sustain a balanced diet, through practical and theoretical exploration of Graphic’s, Food and Resistant materials.
Our curriculum encourages success for all students, through our inclusive approach to learning. As this subject requires a combination of practical, design and written communication, it effectively suits the needs of all learners, with a curriculum that enthuses creativity through a passion of Design and Food.
This exhilarating subject drives students to use their best gifts through a pathway of success, to achieve their full potential to prove that they are all made for greatness.
In addition to our exciting curriculum we also have a range of extra curricular clubs for students to get involved with beyond lesson time. Opportunities are further enhanced through lunchtime clubs and intervention to support learning.
