GCSE Results Day 2018

Students and staff at Cardinal Newman Catholic School are celebrating record GCSE examination results this year with students achieving the best results in the school’s history.

A fantastic 85% of students achieved a grade 4 pass or better in English, 75% in Mathematics and 81% in RE.

71% of students achieved a standard pass or better in both GCSE English and Mathematics.

With the introduction of new GCSE courses in most subjects this year, it has been a very challenging year for Year 11 students. Students have worked incredibly hard and their excellent results are a tribute to their commitment and perseverance as well as the hard work and dedication of all the staff. A big thank you to their teachers and staff who have taught and supported students so effectively, and to parents and carers who have nurtured and encouraged students throughout their school lives.

A particular well done to those students who achieved the very top grade 9 in the new GCSE courses. And a very special mention must go to Ellie Hetherton, who achieved a brilliant top grade 9 or A* in ALL her subjects.

There were many outstanding individual performances and an amazing 30 students who achieved 5 or more top grades of 7/8/9 or A*.

Well done to the following students who achieved 10 GCSESs at grades 8 and 9 or A*:

Cynthia Atem, Joseph Gibson, Kamshana Indranada, Ellie Hetherton,  Laelia McDermott,

Well done also to the following students who achieved 9 GCSEs at grades  9-7: Amandeep Bains, Jessica Harris-Cardwell, Elzbieta Goralczyk, Oliver Keane,  and Oliver Kelly

Alongside these there were a number of students whose individual performances represented real achievements for them, even though they may not hit the headlines.

It was wonderful to see lots of smiling faces and happy students, staff and parents when students collected their results. It was also great to see so many of our Year 11 students enrolling for our sixth form yesterday and we are delighted that they aree choosing to continue their studies at Cardinal Newman.

Well done to all our students who received their GCSE results in Years 10 and 11 - we are very proud of you all.

Well done to all our Year 10 students who collected their GCSE English Language results on 23 August.

A particular well done to those students who achieved the very top grade 9 in the new GCSEs for English Language – an amazing achievement considering they completed the exam one year early.

A brilliantr well done to: Joshua Harris, Emilia Hine, Erin Purewal and Cassie Shine who all achieved the top grade and an outstanding grade 9.

And a fantastic well done also to the following students who all achieved an excellent  grade 8: Finlay Berridge, Natalia Brozek, Abi Corrigan, Olivia Jackson, Patrycja Kolakowska, Erin Mcdonagh, Jaskaran Natt, Harley Phillips, Navjot      Randhawa, Julia Stasinska and Sean, Stowe.

These results are particularly good considering the students completed the new English GCSE one year early!

Many thanks to Miss Grieve, Head of English, and all the English staff who have worked so hard helping students prepare for this exam!
