n Friday 5th May, we were fortunate to have Google Expeditions come into Year 7, 8 and 9 Humanities lessons. As staff received their training before school we knew that it was going to be an exciting day and throughout the day all you could hear from Walsingham block was the excitement of the students as they visited many different locations around the world.
In History, students explored the trenches used in World War I. They were able to see the soldier’s uniforms, the different types of gas masks as well as exploring No Man’s Land for themselves. In Geography, students in Year 7 and 8 explored the New Seven Wonders of the World including the Taj Mahal, India, The Great Wall of China and Machu Picchu, Peru. Year 9 students visited the many different biomes around the world including the Tropical Rainforest and Taiga to complement their GCSE studies.
Once the work had been done, students then had opportunities to explore the Solar System, the Jurrasic World with some students even seeing the inside of Buckingham Palace!
Parents and students are able to explore this for themselves by downloading the Google Expeditions app.
We would like to thank Chetan Ladwa from Google Expeditions for providing the equipment, training and support throughout the day.
