YEAR 11 CELEBRATING GCSE RESULTS AT CARDINAL NEWMAN SCHOOL

Students and staff at Cardinal Newman Catholic School are again celebrating their GCSE examination results.

Well done to all our students who received their GCSE results in Years 10 and 11 - we are very proud of you all.

Students have worked extremely hard and their excellent results are a tribute to their commitment and perseverance. A big thank you to their teachers and staff who have taught and supported students so effectively, and parents who have nurtured and encouraged students throughout their school lives.

This year Mathematics and English GCSEs have been graded using the new system of 1 to 9 grades (9 being the top grade). A particular well done to those students who achieved the very top grade 9 in the new GCSEs for English Language, English Literature and Mathematics.

There were many individual outstanding performances and 35 students achieved 5 or more grade A/A*s or equivalent. These include:

  • Ellie McLaughlin who achieved 11 GCSEs including 4A* grades, 4 grade As , and two brilliant grade 9s in English Language and English Literature
  • Rourke O'Looney who achieved 11 GCSEs including a fantastic 7A* grades and  grade 9 in Mathematics
  • Declan Purewal who achieved 11 GCSEs including 4A* grades, 4 grade As ,  grade 9 in English Literature and grade 8 in Mathematics.
  • Eve O'Sullivan who achieved 11 GCSEs including 5A* grades, 3 A grades and grade 9 in both English Literature and Mathematics.
  • Freya Bryan who achieved 10 GCSEs with 5A* grades, 2 grade As and 3 grade 8s in English Literature, English Language and Mathematics
  • Cindy Fuaye Mfuh who achieved 11 GCSEs including  7A*/A grades and grade 9 in English Literature
  • Adam Muir who achieved 11 GCSEs including 7A*/A grades

Alongside these there were a number of students whose individual performances represented real achievements for them, even though they may not hit the headlines.

It was wonderful to see lots smiling faces and happy students, staff and parents when students collected their results. It was also great to see so many of our Year 11 students enrolling for our sixth form yesterday and we are delighted that they choosing to continue their studies at Cardinal Newman.
