ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE

CHAIR: GEOFF KENNEDY

The Admissions committee determines the criteria used to decide which pupils will be admitted and are the admissions authority for the school. This committee ensures a fair process for considering applications and that the admissions procedures protect the provision of Catholic education now and in the future.

PERSONNEL & PERFORMANCE MONITORING COMMITTEE

CHAIR: DEAN O'DONOGHUE

The Personnel & Performance Monitoring committee monitors the standards achieved by the school and the progress of students in order to raise standards. To ensure effective management of all staffing and personnel functions of the school. To be responsible for policies and procedures that will ensure appointment of the highest quality staff possible, their continuing professional development and monitoring of their performance.

FINANCE, BUILDING & GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE

CHAIR: LAURENCE MOORE

The Finance, Building & General Purpose committee is responsible for the effective monitoring of all the financial and Health and Safety functions of the school and is responsible for ensuring that the buildings and facilities of the school are of a suitable standard to ensure the delivery of the highest standard of education. The committee will ensure that all policies associated with financial management, Health and Safety and premises are current and effective for the delivery of a high standard of teaching and learning at Cardinal Newman.

LINKED GOVERNORS

HEALTH & SAFETY AND SAFEGUARDING LINK (LYN DAVIES & DAVID PARNELL)

Takes responsibility for liaising with the school's Health & Safety Co-ordinator.

They are the nominated governors responsible for child protection issues and policy. They ensure legal requirements are being met by the school and report back to the Governing Body.

PUPIL DISCIPLINE (ANY GOVERNOR)

The Pupil Discipline Committee meets to make final decisions on permanent pupil exclusions. They will also listen to appeals from parents.

MOST ABLE PUPILS (MICHAEL KEANE)

Takes responsibility for liaising with the school's Additional Educational Needs and Gifted and Talented coordinators.

EDUCATIONAL VISITS LINK (GEOFF KENNEDY)

Monitors the school's policy for educational, recreational and sporting visits outside the school premises. Monitors Risk Assessments and reports back to the Governing Body.
