Stay at home if you have coronavirus symptoms

Stay at home if you have either:

  • a high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
  • a new, continuous cough – this means you've started coughing repeatedly

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.

Testing for coronavirus is not needed if you're staying at home.

How long to stay at home

  • if you have symptoms, stay at home for 7 days
  • if you live with other people, they should stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person got symptoms

If you live with someone who is 70 or over, has a long-term condition, is pregnant or has a weakened immune system, try to find somewhere else for them to stay for 14 days.

If you have to stay at home together, try to keep away from each other as much as possible.

Read our advice about staying at home.

How to avoid catching and spreading coronavirus (social distancing)

Everyone should do what they can to stop coronavirus spreading. It is particularly important for people who:

  • are 70 or over
  • have a long-term condition
  • are pregnant
  • have a weakened immune system

Dear Parent/Carer

Re:  Coronavirus COVID-19 Update

We are writing to you in response to the ongoing situation concerning the Coronavirus.  We are receiving and following daily advice from public health agencies which are shared on the school website.  You will be aware that there may come a time when the government decides to move to school closures.

In the event of school closure, we will inform parents via:

  • Text
  • Email
  • Social media updates
  • School website

Should there be a period of closure, we will ensure that all students are provided with appropriate work for the period in question.  This is especially important for those students in Years 11 and 13 who are currently studying for public examinations.  If we are closed at any point, we will do our very best to continue to support all students and provide work that can be completed remotely.

In order for students to access online learning, students need to be aware of their login details and passwords, especially for Class Charts and their school email.  Additional advice on this can be found on the school website.

In the meantime, I would ask you all to continue following the relevant advice from public health agencies.

Please rest assured that should our situation change in any way, we will contact you.

Yours faithfully

Ms E O’Connor

Dear Parents and Carers, we have been made aware of a fake story circulating social media. The article mentions the school, Coronavirus and potential closure. Whilst the article is very obviously fake we want to reassure parents that we have no reported cases of the virus and school will be open as usual tomorrow. If you are concerned about the virus please review government guidance (

Kind regards

Ms O'Connor
