Year 11 moving to sixth form

Dear Student

Re: GCSE Results Day and transfer to Sixth Form

We hope that you and your family are well at this time.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new Year 12 students to the Sixth Form in September.  We also wanted to take this opportunity to update you with regard to arrangements for collecting examination results and provide some further information about transfer to the sixth form.

GCSE results can be collected from the Pope Francis Hall on Thursday 25th August between 9.00am and 10.30am.  Staff will be there to support and answer any questions you may have about your Sixth Form enrolment.

Timetable Blocking, Entry Requirements and Dress Code

The timetable blockings are now confirmed and are enclosed with this letter.  Please do not worry if you find there is a clash.  If more than one of your subjects are in the same option block, you may need to revise your subject choices.  If this isn’t possible, we can make arrangements for you to study one of your subjects at another school under our consortia arrangements.  We will be happy to talk this through with you.  The subject entry requirements are also enclosed as well as the Sixth Form Dress Code.  If a subject is oversubscribed places will be allocated on the basis of GCSE Average Point Score in CORE subjects.

Transition Task

We want to make sure that your sixth form experience starts off really well.    To help support we ask that you complete the Year 11 into 12 Transition Booklet.  This contains a wide range of activities for you to engage with that will help you explore the skills required for sixth form study including:  leadership, organisation, communication, initiative and resilience.  We ask that you choose four tasks from each page to complete in readiness for the new term in September.

Enrolment

On GCSE Results Day you will be emailed a FORMS link to confirm your subject choices.  Following this you will have an enrolment meeting with a member of staff between 7th and 10th September to confirm your choices and to discuss any questions you may have.    Appointments will be arranged when you collect your exam results.  Year 12 induction will begin on Monday 12th September and all students in the sixth form will only be in school for full-time.

In the meantime, should you have any questions about any aspect of Sixth Form study or would like to talk through your options please email me at: christopher.courtney@cncs.school

Yours faithfully
